Azhar Australia is a non-profit Islamic educational institute based in Lakemba, Sydney — officially recognised by Dar Al Fatwa Lebanon.
Azhar Australia is officially recognised by Dar Al Fatwa Lebanon — established to transmit the sacred sciences as they have been studied for over a millennium. Operating since 2023 adjacent to the historic Lakemba mosque, we serve students seeking a serious, classical education in Islam.
Our three-year Shariah program is grounded in the Islamic tradition and built on four core areas: Fiqh, the Sources of Legislation, the Building Blocks of the Effective Muslim, and Islamic History.
Azhar Australia has operated since 2023 from Lakemba, adjacent to the historic Lakemba Mosque, under the auspices of the Lebanese Muslim Association — the oldest Islamic organisation in Australia. Its three-year Shariah program is officially recognised by Dar Al Fatwa Lebanon.
Fifteen teachers carry the program between them: graduates of Al-Azhar, scholars trained in Lebanon, and teachers from Madinah, India and Australia — each with decades of study in the company of their own teachers. The full faculty is listed on the home page.
Azhar Australia operates as a program of the Lebanese Muslim Association, a non-profit organisation. Donations in support of the school are received and administered by the Association.
